Ahmad Faraz (Syed Ahmad Shah Ali) was born on 12th January , 1931 in Kohat Pakistan. 'Faraz' is his pseudonym (takhalus) in
Urdu. Ahmad Faraz died in Islamabad on 25th , 2008. Ahmad Faraz was
considered one of the great modern Urdu poets. He was awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz,
Sitara-i-Imtiaz and after his death Hilal-e-Pakistan by the government.
